Stallings’ Taking Over Pittsburgh

Everyone knows about the hiring by the University of Pittsburgh for their new head men’s basketball coach, Kevin Stallings. He takes over for Jamie Dixon after 17 years as Vanderbilt’s head men’s basketball coach.

Not many people are familiar with Jacob Stallings, who is a minor league catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jacob is 26 years old, and is a sixth round pick in the 2012 draft.

When looking at his baseball ability, he is actually a pretty productive prospect, hitting .308 this spring training for the Bucs, while batting .275 in Double-A last year for the Altoona Curve. As of now, Jacob Stallings is set to begin the year in Triple-A, due to injuries to several Triple-A players.

Both Stallings’ are very excited for the opportunity they have to eventually be in the same city together, doing what they both love professionally. Although Jacob Stallings has a way to go to get to Pittsburgh, having his dad in the city is certainly extra intensive for him to work extra hard to reach his ultimate goal.
