The Pirates outfield has the potential to be one of the top outfield tandems in the league. Everyone knows that, including the Pirates. Andrew McCutchen had his fifth home run in the past seven games, and this one was a solo shot that helped lift the Pirates over the Baltimore Orioles for a 6-5 victory. Starling Marte hit a two run shot, and Gregory Polanco added a solo home run as well.
These three have major potential to build something special in Pittsburgh. Obviously, McCutchen and Marte are going to give us what they have given us the past several seasons, and I see Marte only getting better. Polanco hasn’t had the greatest spring training thus far, but he can only go up from here. After finishing his first full season with an okay average, there is major room for improvement, and he knows that. Polanco is going to have a breakout year, and ESPN will be talking about this outfield for years to come. Just give it time, and watch what these three All Stars can do.
I predict they all end the year with an average of .260 or better, with a total of 55 home runs and a total of 225 RBI’s or better. If these three can combine for these stats, the Pirates will have no problem making a run at a National League Central Division Title.
